The Information Management classes are designed to give students skills in various software programs. BCA I introduces students to Microsoft Word and Excel programs; Digital Imaging teaches Photoshop and Flash; Web Page Publishing students develop web pages using Dreamweaver and Desktop Publishing combines all those skills to produce items for the school and the community. We are also implementing a Simulated Workplace model for our classroom. Julia Redman and Michael Laxton are the two ambassadors for our simulated business call Panther Publishing.
Twenty-one of the BCA I students have passed their Microsoft Office Word Specialist exams to be certified through Microsoft. Later this year, they will also take the Microsoft Office Excel exam for certification. Digital Imaging students are using their Photoshop skills to design packaging for products and designing magazine layouts. Web Page students are now assisting with the school website and will be creating and up keeping the CTE pages as well as band and counseling pages. The Desktop Publishing class has been busy this year running the printing part of the Panther Publishing business. Some of the projects thus far include: business cards for local businesses, class reunion programs, sports programs, certificates, athletic passes, posters for several organizations and designing educational game cards for various classes.
